Infrared vs Hot-Air Heaters: Which Is Right for Your Workspace?

When it comes to heating a workshop, warehouse or hall, two approaches dominate: infrared (radiant) heaters and hot-air (convection) heaters. They both keep people warm, but they do it in fundamentally different ways — and that difference has a big impact on comfort, running costs and which spaces they suit. How each type works

A hot-air heater warms the air. A burner or element heats air, a fan blows it into the room, and that warm air raises the overall air temperature. It is the same principle as central heating.

An infrared heater works more like the sun. Instead of heating the air, it emits infrared radiation that travels through the space and warms the floors, walls, machinery and people it lands on directly. When hot-air can still make sense
